Who We Are...

The Long Island Advocacy Center, Inc. (THE LIAC) is a private not-for-profit agency
dedicated to protecting the legal rights of students and individuals with disabilities
What We Do... How We Implement Our Services
The LIAC offers:
Students
solutions to school problems such as discipline, truancy, suspensions, residency disputes and inappropriate placements.
"As a result of LIAC's intervention, individuals have achieved greater self-respect, independence and economic self-sufficiency. Instances of juvenile delinquency and school drop-outs have greatly reduced, saving taxpayer dollars."
Individuals with Disabilities
service coordination, assistance in obtaining vocational rehabilitation services and appropriate educational programs.
Direct Individualized Services
Through mediations, negotiations and representation, specially trained attorneys and paraprofessionals ensure that individuals receive the maximum service to which they are entitled under the law.
Special Education Support
Information, referral, technical and individual support services empowering families that are struggling with the special education process
Education
LIAC also provides trainings in relevant laws, regulations and advocacy skills to family members, students, educators, probation officers and other professionals.
