The West Hempstead Rotary Club Generously Donates $500 to the Long Island Advocacy Center

Lhea Scott-Laub, representing the West Hempstead Rotary Club, graciously invited the Long Island Advocacy Center (LIAC)  to meet with the Club members and provide information about LIAC’s mission and services.  On February 28th    Beverly Burke attended a meeting of The West Hempstead Rotary Club in order to share with the members how LIAC serves the community and the importance of LIAC’s involvement and commitment in assisting students and families obtaining the appropriate services and supports in the school and community.

Ms. Burke, a Medicaid Service Coordinator and Education Advocate at LIAC, was welcomed by Sandra Salmon, President and Lhea Scott-Laub, Secretary. In addition to informing the group of the wide array of services provided by LIAC, Ms. Burke was able to share her personal story about a time when she was unable to access the mandated appropriate educational  supports from her school district. The needs of her family is what brought Ms. Burke to the Long Island Advocacy Center.

The West Hempstead Rotary Club understood LIAC’s role in empowering families to be informed advocates for their children. LIAC is grateful for their generous donation of $500 towards our goal of helping more families through Advocacy .
